Language Policy

This is an English-language journal. All manuscripts must be submitted and published in standard English, applied consistently throughout the manuscript. The journal encourages submissions from non-native English speakers.

Submission Language

All manuscripts must be written in English. Authors may choose American or British English conventions, but must be consistent throughout the full text, including abstracts, figure captions, and supplementary files.

Non-Native Speakers

Manuscripts from non-native English speakers are warmly welcomed. Editors evaluate scientific merit, not language proficiency. Authors are encouraged to use a professional editing service prior to submission to improve clarity.

Language Editing Support

Professional language editing is recommended — but not required — before first submission. Authors are required to correct language issues identified during peer review before acceptance.

Translated Abstracts

Authors may optionally include a translated abstract (up to 250 words) in their native language as supplementary material. This does not replace the English abstract, which is mandatory for all submissions.

Editorial Partnerships: The journal has partnerships with professional language editing services offering discounted rates for authors. Visit the submission portal for exclusive discount codes available to submitting authors.
Manuscript Categories

Types of Published Articles

The journal publishes six categories of peer-reviewed content. Each type has specific requirements for structure, length, and scope. Authors should select the most appropriate category before submission.

Original Research

Research Articles

Full-length empirical studies reporting novel findings. Must include Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion sections. Research articles represent the primary content type and undergo full double-blind peer review by a minimum of two independent experts.

≤ 8,000 words ≤ 8 figures/tables ≤ 60 references 250-word abstract
Review

Systematic Reviews & Meta-Analyses

Comprehensive, structured reviews of existing literature on a defined research question. Must follow PRISMA guidelines for systematic reviews or MOOSE guidelines for meta-analyses. Unsolicited review submissions are accepted.

≤ 10,000 words PRISMA / MOOSE ≤ 120 references 300-word abstract
Research Brief

Short Communications

Concise reports of novel, time-sensitive findings, negative results with scientific value, or methodological notes. Undergo the same rigorous peer review as full articles but designed for rapid dissemination. Particularly suited for replication studies and null results.

≤ 3,500 words ≤ 3 figures/tables ≤ 30 references 150-word abstract
Methodology

Methods & Protocols

Detailed descriptions of new experimental methods, computational pipelines, or laboratory protocols with broad applicability. Must include sufficient detail for reproducibility. Protocol papers should include validation data demonstrating the method's utility and reliability.

≤ 6,000 words ≤ 6 figures/tables ≤ 50 references 200-word abstract
Commentary

Perspectives & Commentaries

Opinion-based pieces offering expert analysis, forward-looking perspectives, or critical commentary on a recently published study or emerging trend. Authors are typically invited, but unsolicited perspectives on landmark papers are considered. Must be grounded in published evidence.

≤ 2,500 words ≤ 2 figures ≤ 25 references No abstract required
Editorial

Editorials

Written exclusively by members of the editorial board or by invited guest editors of special issues. Editorials introduce thematic issues, reflect on milestone developments in the field, or provide policy-relevant commentary on reproducibility, open science, and research integrity.

≤ 1,500 words Invitation only ≤ 15 references No abstract required

Article Processing Charges

As a fully open-access journal, this journal operates on an Article Processing Charge (APC) model. Authors pay a one-time fee upon acceptance — there are no submission fees. APCs are used solely to cover editorial operations, production, and long-term digital preservation.

Editorial Independence

APCs are only charged after a manuscript is accepted on scientific merit. Editorial decisions are made entirely independently of commercial considerations. Paying an APC does not guarantee acceptance.
