Systematic Reviews & Meta-Analyses
Comprehensive, structured reviews of existing literature on a defined research question. Must follow PRISMA guidelines for systematic reviews or MOOSE guidelines for meta-analyses. Unsolicited review submissions are accepted.
Short Communications
Concise reports of novel, time-sensitive findings, negative results with scientific value, or methodological notes. Undergo the same rigorous peer review as full articles but designed for rapid dissemination. Particularly suited for replication studies and null results.
Methods & Protocols
Detailed descriptions of new experimental methods, computational pipelines, or laboratory protocols with broad applicability. Must include sufficient detail for reproducibility. Protocol papers should include validation data demonstrating the method's utility and reliability.
Perspectives & Commentaries
Opinion-based pieces offering expert analysis, forward-looking perspectives, or critical commentary on a recently published study or emerging trend. Authors are typically invited, but unsolicited perspectives on landmark papers are considered. Must be grounded in published evidence.
Editorials
Written exclusively by members of the editorial board or by invited guest editors of special issues. Editorials introduce thematic issues, reflect on milestone developments in the field, or provide policy-relevant commentary on reproducibility, open science, and research integrity.
Article Processing Charges
As a fully open-access journal, this journal operates on an Article Processing Charge (APC) model. Authors pay a one-time fee upon acceptance — there are no submission fees. APCs are used solely to cover editorial operations, production, and long-term digital preservation.

Waiver & Discount Policy
Authors from low- and lower-middle-income countries (World Bank classification) are eligible for full or partial APC waivers. Waiver requests are reviewed independently from peer review and have no influence on editorial decisions.
Editorial Independence
APCs are only charged after a manuscript is accepted on scientific merit. Editorial decisions are made entirely independently of commercial considerations. Paying an APC does not guarantee acceptance.
